This beautifully crystallised fluorite and barite association features a bright, rich orange colour created by iron staining through both minerals.
Recent fluorite from this locality is often seen in bright sunshine yellow, but this specimen is distinctly more rich, ranging from golden orange through to rich burnt colours across the larger crystals. The fluorite forms as sharply developed translucent cubes, several of them strongly saturated with fine dark iron inclusions that remain clearly visible through the crystal.
The barite association is especially attractive because it showcases the same warm iron influence. Pale bladed crystals emerge between and beneath the fluorite, some retaining lighter creamy colouring while others take on orange and peach colouring, creating a very cohesive mineral association rather than a simple contrast between two unrelated colours.
The larger fluorite crystals have excellent definition and a composition that offers versatility in display.
