In our hands for only a brief moment, a mineral passes from the world where it formed millions of years ago to the collection it will soon become part of. That moment between worlds is what gives us our name.

Est. 2021 Our Story

The Liminal Stone was founded in 2021 by Mala and Dean, both lifelong mineral collectors whose childhood interest in minerals eventually grew into a much deeper collecting practice

Today, we work from regional Victoria, Australia, sourcing and sharing mineral specimens with collectors around the world. Our offerings are selected with a growing focus on quality, locality, provenance and pieces that offer something genuinely interesting, whether through exceptional crystal form, unusual associations, rarity or collecting history.

We believe a good mineral business should also help collectors understand what they're looking at.

Alongside our specimens, we share locality information, collecting context and research that helps explain where a specimen comes from, how it formed and why collectors should be interested in this information.

Our approach remains simple:

  • Collector focused curation, choosing specimens for their mineralogical and aesthetic merit rather than simply filling inventory
