A lovely small pseudomorph from Kerrouchen, preserving the elongated bladed form of the original azurite crystals after their replacement by malachite.
The specimen has a sculptural growth with several prominent blades extending from the main cluster and smaller crystals packed through the centre. The malachite has a rich green colour with a slightly velvety surface texture, while the retained azurite morphology gives the piece much of its character.
A pseudomorph forms when one mineral replaces another while retaining the original mineral’s crystal shape. In this case, malachite has replaced the azurite, but the original azurite crystal form is still preserved.
