Fluorite from Greece is not something we see especially often, which makes this Hilarion Mine specimen a particularly lovely find for the fluorite collector.
The crystals are beautifully defined, with crisp cubic form, soft violet colour and a pleasing degree of transparency. Across the surface, subtle variation in tone gives the fluorite more depth than the photographs initially suggest, while the colourful matrix beneath adds warmth and contrast without overwhelming the crystals.
There is a very clean, balanced quality to the composition, with the cubes arranged naturally across the matrix and enough open space between them to appreciate their individual form. The combination of colour, transparency and sharp geometry makes this a very attractive example from a historic Greek locality.
A lovely little piece, and an especially appealing opportunity to add Greek fluorite to the collection.
