A beautifully balanced cluster of pale lilac fluorite from a relatively recent Western Anatolian find, distinguished by pronounced purple edge zoning and a particularly open, three dimensional arrangement of intergrown cubes.
Many specimens from this discovery appeared in much deeper, darker shades of purple. This example is considerably lighter, allowing the internal structure of the crystals to remain visible while stronger violet colour is concentrated along the outer edges and corners. The resulting zoning gives the cubes excellent definition, particularly where overlapping crystals reveal successive bands of colour.
The fluorite ranges from translucent to locally transparent, with broad reflective faces, stepped growth and occasional textured areas across the larger crystals. Numerous cubes overlap across the specimen in different orientations, creating a complex surface without losing the recognisable cubic habit.
The fluorite sits on a relatively restrained matrix that provides enough contrast and structure to support the crystal group without adding excessive weight or dominating the specimen. From several viewing angles the piece retains a particularly pleasing balance between matrix, crystal coverage and open crystal faces.
