This is a sculptural calcite on scolecite specimen, with an extraordinary contrast between the fine linear growth of the zeolite and the softer, more substantial forms of the calcite.
The lustre of the scolecite is almost fibre optic. Zeolite minerals interact with light in a very particular way, with the fine parallel crystals seeming to carry and reflect light through the specimen rather than simply shining at the surface. It gives the piece an optical quality that is quite unlike most other mineral groups and becomes far more apparent in person.
The calcite creates a strong contrast in both form and texture, sitting across the scolecite in clusters of softer, blockier crystals and giving the specimen a much more three dimensional composition. From some angles the calcite appears almost to float across the surface, while the scolecite beneath remains bright, linear and highly reflective.

If I already have an open box and place an order from the website, will my items ship together?
Yes. By default, your open box will be shipped with your website order on the next available business day. If you'd like to keep your box open all you need to do is send us a message Instagram @the_liminal_stone before dispatch occurs
Is this the exact specimen I will receive?
Yes. Unless a listing is clearly marked as a multiple quantity product like Mineral Tac, the specimen shown in the photographs is the exact piece you will receive.
What happens if a specimen sells while I'm checking out?
Most pieces are unique and available in a quantity of one. A specimen is only secured once checkout has been completed successfully.
Do you combine shipping?
Yes. If you purchase multiple specimens, we'll combine them into one shipment wherever practical. Any excess shipping charged at checkout can be refunded once your order is packed.
Are repairs or restorations disclosed?
Yes. Any known repair, restoration, reattachment or treatment is stated in the listing.
Can I purchase a specimen as a gift?
