This little specimen quite literally trimmed itself while I was photographing it. It was originally part of a larger piece that separated naturally in my hand, leaving behind this beautifully composed miniature with a much cleaner and more distinct form.
A vivid yellow fluorite cube sits prominently through the centre, a classic colour for Tizi n Tichka, surrounded by small beta quartz crystals and aggregates carrying rich red iron staining and hematite. The quartz creates a wonderfully busy setting around the fluorite, with plenty of fine detail packed into only 27mm.
It is tiny, but the composition is excellent. The yellow fluorite immediately draws the eye, while the surrounding quartz and red mineralisation give the piece a wonderfully vivid, almost fiery character. A lovely miniature from a locality known for these colourful fluorite and quartz associations.
