This extraordinary miniature comes from a historic find at Tinejdad in Morocco, and shows beautiful translucency despite much of the ferruginous quartz from the area tending towards a more opaque appearance.
It's the smallest piece in this group, but the composition is superb. The feature central crystal rises above a compact cluster of smaller points, all carrying vivid red and orange colour with that lovely gel like transparency. In natural daylight the saturation becomes especially intense, with the darker iron rich areas at the terminations giving the piece a scorched, charcoal tipped appearance.
At only 7.5g, there is an enormous amount happening in this tiny piece. The colour, translucency and composition make this a very special little example of old stock Tinejdad material.
