This compact pseudomorph has a rich colour combination, with vivid malachite green sitting alongside areas of deep azurite blue.
The original azurite habit is beautifully retained, composed of a dense cluster of bladed crystals that overlap and radiate through the specimen. Some crystals are almost entirely replaced by malachite, while others retain strong blue colouring across the surface, giving the piece a very different look from the greener examples in the parcel.
A pseudomorph forms when one mineral replaces another while retaining the original mineral’s crystal shape. In this case, malachite has began to replace the azurite, but the original azurite crystal form is still preserved and some of its colour still remains.
