Even then, the exact mine was not publicly known, and that part of the story remains somewhat unresolved. Further examples appeared through 2021 and 2022, but the material has never become commonplace, and good specimens with defined form remain particularly difficult to find.

The colour is one of the things that makes this material so interesting. It's distinctly different from the more familiar appearance of rose quartz, with a softer pastel colouring running through individual crystals rather than presenting as massive pink quartz. We have had material from this find lab tested ourselves, with manganese and iron detected among the trace elements associated with the colour.

This is one of the better miniatures we've seen from the find, with two beautifully defined floral starburst clusters perched on matrix. A lot of the Huancayo material we have encountered is attractive in colour but comparatively loose or indistinct in form, whereas these two clusters are wonderfully resolved, almost like tiny mineral fireworks, with individual crystals radiating outward in a very clear pattern.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1020/1815/4628/files/D3CC44DE-D1B5-4EAA-8C8F-221EE0A49786.jpg?v=1791419999
