This substantial example is especially striking for its deep oxblood red colour, heavily textured surface and unusually complete crystal form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe specimen is dominated by a single elongated quartz crystal with a sharply defined termination and strong parallel growth along several faces. Layers of iron coating have built across the surface unevenly, producing dense ridges, stepped textures and richly saturated red colour that shifts from dark brick through to almost burgundy in places. The contrast between the smoother crystal faces and more heavily deposited areas gives the specimen considerable surface variation from different angles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe base features completely healed surface textures, giving the piece an almost double terminated appearance while maintaining a natural, finished profile. Smaller parallel crystals rise along one side of the main crystal, reinforcing the overall growth direction and adding further structure to the specimen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is older material from the locality, and among the ferruginous quartz we have handled from Tinejdad, single crystals with this degree of completeness are uncommon. Acquired in 2021, it has remained the strongest example I was able to source, with an exceptionally sharp hematite phantom suspended through the centre of the crystal and a much clearer smoky termination above.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe phantom is unusually dense and well defined, with a crisp upper boundary that creates a dramatic contrast against the more transparent quartz surrounding it. Above this, the termination remains sharply formed and deeply smoky, while directional light reveals warm internal flashes through the clearer upper section.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA smaller parallel crystal rises from the base and closely echoes the growth of the main crystal, with a similarly defined smoky body and termination. Fine black tourmaline is gathered around this secondary point, giving the base a classic Erongo association and adding further complexity to an otherwise very clean composition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the years I acquired and released a number of specimens from this same pocket, but this is the final one I retained. Across much of the surface is a very thin milky patina, interrupted by strong geometric contact imprints that create sharply defined windows, steps and recessed patterns through the quartz. These impressions give the specimen a beautifully sculptural surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFine black tourmaline needles are scattered across parts of the crystal, while pale feldspar is concentrated around the lower sections and base. The contrast between the soft milky coating, darker tourmaline and clearer exposed quartz gives the piece a particularly complex appearance without obscuring the underlying form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat makes this specimen especially interesting is the relationship between the contact growth and the preserved quartz beneath it. The surface doesn't read as uniformly coated or etched, but as a record of minerals growing closely against the quartz during formation, leaving behind strong geometric impressions and irregular interruption patterns. The crystal faces are beautifully etched, featuring stepped growth and irregular surface textures. Internally the fluorite is packed with dark mineral inclusions, the most striking of which are fine needle growth that is consistent with boulangerite, an association that has appeared in more recent Milpo material. Galena is also present, adding darker metallic areas around the crystal and internally. Recent Milpo specimens with boulangerite inclusions are being specifically noted as a newer feature from the locality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eSeveral stationary fluid bubbles are visible within the fluorite. They don't move freely like classic mobile enhydros, but they add another layer of internal detail to an already feature filled crystal. Under strong light, the body transforms from pale sea green through deeper internal zones, allowing the inclusions to become increasingly visible as the crystal is turned.
