This example is considerably lighter, allowing the internal structure of the crystals to remain visible while stronger violet colour is concentrated along the outer edges and corners. The resulting zoning gives the cubes excellent definition, particularly where overlapping crystals reveal successive bands of colour.

The fluorite ranges from translucent to locally transparent, with broad reflective faces, stepped growth and occasional textured areas across the larger crystals. Numerous cubes overlap across the specimen in different orientations, creating a complex surface without losing the recognisable cubic habit.

The fluorite sits on a relatively restrained matrix that provides enough contrast and structure to support the crystal group without adding excessive weight or dominating the specimen. From several viewing angles the piece retains a particularly pleasing balance between matrix, crystal coverage and open crystal faces.

Minerals: Fluorite, Boulangerite Galena
Locality: Milpo mine, Atacocha mining district, Cerro de Pasco, Pasco province, Pasco, Peru
Dimensions: 48mm x 40mm x 48mm
Weight: 102g

Here's a substantial single fluorite crystal from the Milpo Mine in Peru that features a strong modified octahedral form, heavily etched natural surfaces and an extraordinary density of dark inclusions suspended throughout the interior.

The crystal is incredibly complex for its relatively simple external shape. The crystal faces are beautifully etched, featuring stepped growth and irregular surface textures. Internally the fluorite is packed with dark mineral inclusions, the most striking of which are fine needle growth that is consistent with boulangerite, an association that has appeared in more recent Milpo material. Galena is also present, adding darker metallic areas around the crystal and internally. Recent Milpo specimens with boulangerite inclusions are being specifically noted as a newer feature from the locality.

Several stationary fluid bubbles are visible within the fluorite. They don't move freely like classic mobile enhydros, but they add another layer of internal detail to an already feature filled crystal. Under strong light, the body transforms from pale sea green through deeper internal zones, allowing the inclusions to become increasingly visible as the crystal is turned. The inclusions also show up spectacularly in natural daylight, where they shine like glitter suspended within.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1020/1815/4628/files/3483FDCB-0428-4C94-A1FC-F0EBE1284DB1.jpg?v=1789110880
fluorite-with-boulangerite-milpo-mine-peru
Quartz on Fluorite, Morocco

Minerals: Fluorite, Quartz, Iron
Locality: Chebka Sidi Said, Mibladen, Aït Oufella Caïdat, Midelt Cercle, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Dimensions: 46mm x 25mm x 25mm
Weight: 34.5g

This richly textured fluorite and quartz association comes from recent production in Chebka Sidi Said, Morocco, with warm iron staining distributed across both the fluorite and the surrounding crystal growth.

The fluorite occurs as a compact cluster of small but sharply defined cubes, many of them partially coated or dusted with iron rich material that ranges through peach, rust and softer shades of orange.

The quartz association adds much of the specimen’s texture.
